Profile: Having spent five years as a manager for Sainsbury’s, Melanie trained as a Chartered Accountant in the City, qualifying in 1999 with top 40 firm haysmacintyre. Following a brief stint in industry as a group financial controller, Melanie returned to practice and has gathered extensive experience advising both large and small businesses. She works with a wide variety of clients including international groups, as well as local companies.
Working for large independent firms since qualifying, Melanie has extensive experience in the areas of audit and compliance and looks after the affairs of some of the firm’s largest audit clients. She also manages the audit and accounts function.
Over the years she has developed a particular expertise in property and construction and is a member of the UK 200 Group property and construction committee. Technically very strong, Melanie has advised property investors and developers, assisting in raising finance, liaising with banks, dealing with complex tax matters and valuation issues.
Melanie joined Swindells in 2010 to head up the corporate finance function, although she remains active in the property and construction sector.
Interests: Melanie is married with three horses, which she keeps on the Ashdown forest. In her free time she can usually be found exploring the forest, together with Henry the dog.
