Brexit Support fund for SMEs (Grants up to £2000)

A new SME Brexit Support Fund is now open for applications. The scheme provides a grant of up to £2,000 to help with the costs of the additional administration required in respect of the movement of goods post Brexit.



The SME Brexit Support Fund could provide you with a grant of up to £2,000, to help with training or professional advice.  The grants are available to businesses with up to 500 employees and no more than £100 million annual turnover.  Applications close on 30 June 2021.



What can I use the grant for?


You can use the grant for training in:


  • completing customs declarations
  • managing the customs process and using customs software and systems
  • specific import and export related aspects, including VAT, excise duty and rules of origin.


The money can also be used to pay for professional advice to help your business with, excise duty, import VAT or safety and security declaration requirements.


Is my business eligible?


A business can apply:


  • if it has been established in the UK for at least twelve months or holds Authorised Economic Operator status
  • if it has always met its tax or customs duty liabilities
  • if it has no more than 500 employees or an annual turnover below £100 million
  • if it imports or exports goods between GB and the EU, or moves goods between GB and Northern Ireland
  • if it intends to complete import or export declarations internally for its own goods
  • if it requires more capability to cope with imports or exports, despite using the services of someone else to complete the declaration documents.


How can I apply?


PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) is administering the grants for HMRC and applications will close on 30 June 2021 or earlier if all funding is allocated before this date.
